My husband suddenly and unexpectedly divorced me last summer 2010. I was a stay at home mom of 3 boys - now ages 7, 6, & 3. Since then, I have been looking for a job - any job! Partime, fulltime, contract, temp, etc. with no success. We share 50/50 custody and he pays $700/month in child support. Of that, $500 goes to health insurance and $100 goes to car insurance. That leaves me $100 for the month. I qualified for food stamps in KY, so food isn't an issue. However, I couldn't qualify for any other financial assistance. Gas? Medical Co-pays/Rx's? Reduced Medical Coverage-Medicaid? Misc Bills? I am desperate! I have no money and no way to get it! I'm scared to death. I have a college degree so I'm not unhirable, but am really desperate for a job or source of income/help/financial assistance. Is there any resources out there for me, short of begging on the street? ha
